5.75 (average) This series is either hit or miss; for me, it was a miss. First, the art was confusing, since most of the time I couldn't figure out who was who because everyone looked the same; it wasn't particularly clean either. Second, the characters are as stereotypical as they come; I didn't feel any connection to them and, frankly, couldn't care less about what happened to them. Third, the plot brings nothing new to the table; love triangles are OK the first hundred times, but after that I can no longer stomach another (badly executed) one. Furthermore, I felt like there was no resolution or clear direction and that this could turn into another 100-volume/episode series. I don't plan on continuing this, and I feel I've given it a fair shot to impress me for 40+ chapters and half a season.

5.00 (moderate) Nothing particularly impressive, aside from the merman twist on the oh-so-popular "man is rescued, rescuer disappears, then appears again and demands the rescued one's love in return" scenario. The ending was quite abrupt and I feel the manga could've used another volume to develop the plot and characters introduced later on properly instead of just touching on them for a bit.

The art is alright; it's pretty clean and the characters look good, albeit somewhat too feminine. The sex scenes are very stylized and don't show anything explicit, it's mostly implied through backgrounds/sound effects etc. There's not much development in Ayase and Kagetsu's relationship, who are the typical comedy/yaoi couple: the cutesy uke and the lovestruck seme. The only character I found interesting was Sakuya, with his obsession of scrubbing everything sparkly-clean.

All in all, this isn't heavy reading, so don't expect a serious plot or excellent character development. The ending does tie up some loose strings...while leaving others dangling in front of you, so it's ultimately up to you to decide whether bishies + good art > good plot + character development.

7.25 (above average) Definitely a good introduction to yaoi. While it does have 2-3 more risque scenes, the majority of it is tame and mainly focuses on romance rather than sex. The main characters are the stereotypical hardass seme and soft uke, but this doesn't mean the manga is boring. If anything, its fault is its length, as it could have been longer to allow the characters to be more fleshed out and avoid stereotypes. However, it's good for a quick fix and doesn't require too much thinking about, since it's fairly straightforward.

8.00 (good) This is one of the best yaoi I've ever read: Kai Asou's art is beautifully simple, the characters are relatable and the plot is realistic. What I appreciate most about this is the quietness; there aren't any overly dramatic situations and there's no need for them. The characters are normal, everyday people and it's a pleasure to watch them interact. Furthermore, even if it's yaoi, Yachin... isn't full of sex scenes and instead focuses on the characters and their feelings. Highly recommended!

6.50 (above average) This is a rare case where I loved the side characters more than the main ones, though it's all a matter of preference in the end. The mythological references and the action scenes are good, though I did want the mythology to be expanded more and maybe a more gradual introduction of the characters. As it is, the story feels rushed and crowded; perhaps it would have been better suited for a longer series instead of a single volume and a oneshot. The art is well done, but that's to be expected since it's Naono after all.

9.00 (very good) Very enjoyable, funny and slightly ecchi in some parts. Though it may take a bit to wrap your head around it, it's ultimately worth seeing, as long as you're willing to pay attention since the alternate universes and timelines can be quite confusing.

8.00 (good) I'm always left wondering how Naono Bohra makes her oneshots seem so complete and ends them so satisfactorily. Here we have the perfect amount of backstory, sex scenes, action and humor, all set in a fantasy world with demons that sing attack songs. The art is top notch, as expected, and Zai is adorable when confused.

7.75 (good) I really liked it when I first read it and it's definitely a tear-jerker, but I'm not sure how it stands the test of time. Even if it's OK in the beginning, there are parts where it feels drawn out and Riiko's not the best protagonist either. What I did like (and still do) is the ending and I'm glad Watase went with a more bittersweet (and realistic, IMO) one instead of going down the classic shoujo route. Will re-read this eventually and see how it holds up.
